Samsung releases Chat 322 and Chat 335 smart messaging phones

Mobile phone fanatics who find themselves with very limited options when it comes to dedicated messaging phones can calm down. Samsung has recently launched the Chat 322 and Chat 335 smart messaging phones for the Indian market. The company claims that these are equipped with quick messaging capabilities for users to stay connected.

The dual SIM Chat 322 is said to be Samsung’s first smart messaging phone embedding a QWERTY keypad with dual SIM standby. Its full physical keypad is meant for quick and easy text input along with a touch sensitive optical trackpad for scrolling. The phone’s customizable homescreen allows users to organize their favorite features for quick accessibility and it also supports live feeds from Facebook and Twitter.

With a high degree of SNS integration, this device provides instant access to six popular social networking sites. It also accommodates features like ActiveSync, MSN, Gtalk and easy email setup for mail IDs. Other basic attributes of this messaging phone are a 1.3MP camera, FM radio, 3.5mm audio jack, 2.2” LCD display, 8GB expandable memory and more. It is powered by a 1000mAh battery that ensures talk time of up to 12 hours 49 minutes and standby time of up to 588 hours.

“Consumers are increasingly wanting to stay connected with friends and family through SNS, IM and messaging while being on the move. These new QWERTY phones from Samsung meet their needs through convenient messaging features and at the same time offer differentiated features like optical track pad, ActiveSync or the dual SIM standby feature (Chat 322) that make them stand out from other messaging phones,” quoted Ranjit Yadav, Country Head, Mobile & IT, Samsung India.

The Samsung Chat 335 comes in a bar form with a QWERTY keypad. Encased in a fluid metallic design, it shows off a 2.4” LQVGA TFT LCD display with an optical track pad. Social networking buffs can keep themselves in the loop with quick links to six popular social networking sites. The device also offers a customizable homescreen, IM services and easy email setup. The connectivity options presented by the handset include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, USB 2.0 and 3.5 mm audio jack. It jackets a 2MP camera for users to freeze those special moments. The phone runs on a 1000mAh battery offering users talk time of around 14 hours and its memory can be expanded by up to 8GB.

The Samsung Chat 322 comes with a price tag of Rs. 4,990, while the Samsung Chat 335 can be purchased for Rs. 5,800.

Educators, Habitat official receive Golden Apple awards

Several educators and a Habitat for Humanity official were presented with Golden Apple awards at last week’s Washington County Board of Education meeting.

Golden Apple awards were given to Kathy Powderly, development director of Habitat for Humanity of Washington County; Darlene Teach, retired principal/project coordinator for the Women Build Educators’ House; and Kathy Stiles, Rockland Woods Elementary principal and participant in the Women Build Educators’ House, according to the Feb. 15 board meeting agenda.

The women talked about an upcoming Women Build project focused on getting educators, male and female, involved in the construction of a Habitat house on Salem Avenue in Hagerstown. Work could begin in April.

The house will be for a single mother of three children, one of whom is autistic, Powderly said. The mother, a home-based teacher and family support specialist for Head Start, is working toward a degree in early childhood education, Powderly said.

Golden Apple awards were given to Betsy Donohoe, principal at Emma K. Doub School for Integrated Arts and Technology; Theresa Williamson, principal of Fountaindale School for the Arts and Academic Excellence; and Clyde Harrell, director of prekindergarten to 12th-grade curriculum and instruction.

Donohoe and Williamson were honored because their schools qualified for the Maryland Excellence in Gifted and Talented Education School Award.

Harrell was honored for being named outstanding educator-school system administrator by the Maryland State Advisory Council on Gifted and Talented Education.

A Golden Apple award also was presented to Michael Thorsen, principal of Barbara Ingram School for the Arts, on behalf of the school for receiving the 2011 New and Emerging Arts School Award by the Arts School Network.

The earliest web pages used fixed layouts without exception.

Proportional, liquid and hybrid layout are also referred to as dynamic design. Hybrid layout incorporates any combination of fixed, proportional or fluid elements within (or pointing to) a single page. The hybrid web design framework is made possible by digital internet conventions generally prescribed by the W3C. If any layout does not appear as it should, it is very likely that it does not conform to standard design principles, or that those standards conflict with standard layout elements. Current knowledge of standards is essential to effective hybrid design.

The earliest web pages used fixed layouts without exception. In many business pages fixed layouts are preferred today as they easily contain static tabled information. Fixed layout enforces device display convention, as viewers must set their display to at least a certain width to easily view content. This width can include display of corporate logos, cautions, advertisements and any other target content. Design frameworks for fixed layout may need to include coding for multiple display devices.

website design software

Computer software, or just software, is a collection of computer programs and related data that provide the instructions telling a computer what to do and how to do it. We can also say software refers to one or more computer programs and data held in the storage of the computer for some purposes. In other words software is a set of programs, procedures, algorithms and its documentation. Program software performs the function of the program it implements, either by directly providing instructions to the computer hardware or by serving as input to another piece of software. The term was coined to contrast to the old term hardware (meaning physical devices). In contrast to hardware, software is intangible, meaning it "cannot be touched".[1] Software is also sometimes used in a more narrow sense, meaning application software only. Sometimes the term includes data that has not traditionally been associated with computers, such as film, tapes, and records.[2]

Examples of computer software include:

    * Application software includes end-user applications of computers such as word processors or video games, and ERP software for groups of users.
    * Middleware controls and co-ordinates distributed systems.
    * Programming languages define the syntax and semantics of computer programs. For example, many mature banking applications were written in the COBOL language, originally invented in 1959. Newer applications are often written in more modern programming languages.
    * System software includes operating systems, which govern computing resources. Today[when?] large[quantify] applications running on remote machines such as Websites are considered[by whom?] to be system software, because[citation needed] the end-user interface is generally through a graphical user interface, such as a web browser.
    * Testware is software for testing hardware or a software package.
    * Firmware is low-level software often stored on electrically programmable memory devices. Firmware is given its name because it is treated like hardware and run ("executed") by other software programs.
    * Shrinkware is the older name given to consumer-purchased software, because it was often sold in retail stores in a shrink-wrapped box.
    * Device drivers control parts of computers such as disk drives, printers, CD drives, or computer monitors.
    * Programming tools help conduct computing tasks in any category listed above. For programmers, these could be tools for debugging or reverse engineering older legacy systems in order to check source code compatibility.
